[Anveo] G711U vs. G729

Is there any noticeable benefit to using G729, or is it enough to keep the basic plan with G711U? When I have a connected call, everything sounds fine as it is.

Thanks for your opinions.

IMHO G.711 gives a better audio quality compared to G.729. However, I have never tested G.729 with Anveo, I use only G.711.

g.711 sounds the best, but it consumes the most bandwidth ~11KB/sec
g.729 sounds acceptable, but the bandwidth it consumes is much less ~4KB/sec

So basically if your connection can handle g.711 without dropouts or other issues, keep it as it is.
Use g.729 only if you have limited bandwidth or voice quality problems with g.711.

If you're experiencing dropouts, G711U is the worst coded at recovery, G729 is better and SILK is the best.
