Re: [Opera] Opera 12.11 can't bookmark
It was a fresh install on my new computer. The bookmarks were automatically imported from Fx. I had forgotten Opera does that. I did NOT want them imported. When I installed Opera my main focus was on being able to get my dslr mail and I had a feeling that Opera would have no problems while both SeaMonkey mail and Thunderbird cannot get it because the dslr mail server rejects my password)). I know nothing about this latest Opera version. I had planned to install Opera later once I was reasonably familar with Windows 8. Then I could devote time to learning the latest Opera version but I needed it installed right away as my most important mail is on the dslr server (mistake I guess but I never had any problems all these years with Outlook Express and the dslr mail password).
If I export the Fx imported bookmarks will that revert me to no bookmarks? How would I keep Opera from importing them again automatically? I vaguely recall a way to do that...but I don't really remember how. I'd rather export bookmarks from say 11.5 version on my XP machine and import them to Opera 12.11 on this new machine.
You are probably right that is some very long folder name causing the problem...there are tons of bookmarks going back many, many years that Opera imported (without bothering to ask me first) from Fx....there could be several folders that have too long names. Time was when no browser would have automatically imported bookmarks the very first moment the browser is installed...but they all seem to do it now.
