| I'm looking for a few Pet Battle tips. I finally managed to change my battle pets out for Rare grade pets [just the 3 I fight all the time].
I'll keep an eye out for more rares as they come along.
On that a qustion:
Is there an add on that will tell you if the "pet" you see is rare, before you enter the battle?
I have unlocked access to all the pet masters on the two continents. Is there a guide that can brief me on what to expect, what level/type pet I need for each one?
Currently I have a common infected squirrel at lev 15 [he was just retired from rotation]. I liked hthe heal the squirrel had. I'll have to look for rare pets that have a heal ability.
He was replaced with a lev 14 rare fire beetle.
Next up is a lev 15 rare obsidian Hatchling. He was uncommon until I got a stone from a pet battle. Then I raised him to rare.
My last pet is a lev 8 rare core hound pup.

Is a person a failure for doing nothing? Or is he a failure for trying, and not succeeding at what he is attempting to do? What did you fail at today?. |

| There isn't an add on for that. Best way is to start battling them and check the HP pools. The uncommon and rare pets have higher hp pools. |

There is a macro you can run that will tell you they types after you've entered battle. But you can just run up the white flag and bolt if there are no rares.
(just use the macro once each time you are logged in! otherwise you will get douple, triple, etc. notifications)
Keep in mind, if you enter battle and then run away, the mob disappears from the world until its respawn timer is over. If there are other players hunting pets in the area, it's kinda a dick move.

There is an addon that will tell you the quality of the pet once you are IN battle. I forget the exact name (and can't check at work), but it is along the lines of: Battle Pet Quality Notifier
*I have not made sure this is still functional after 5.1, though I have no reason to suspect it isn't. No updates available to my current version of the mod. |

Just go to Curse and check out Pet Battle add-ons. I'm almost positive the one I downloaded gives you their quality. Again, as everyone has noted, it's only after you enter battle though. Still extremely helpful for deciding whether you want to capture or not though.

| their name plates are highlighted blue if they are rares.... used to need a sweet macro or add-on... but by far easiest way is to look at color of name plates once you enter battle with them. |

Some dude in my guild has like 400 some odd pets...he's constantly bragging about it, it's ridiculous. It's gotten to the point where he comments on applications about an applicant's pet battling prowess, and makes his recommendations based on that.

pet battles are a somewhat fun way to pass the time while waiting for a dungeon or raid queue.
I like that all your pets show up on all your toons. So, if you are leveling up a 40 druid, you can use your lower-level pets as you roam around. Then, if you jump on your 90 mage, you can do top-level battles with your higher-ups.
Is there a meta-achieve award for doing all the pet-related achieves? |

The whole 10 seconds I have to wait for those queues I'm trying to turn in that daily or get my cooldowns done for the day, and even then I end up staying up past the raid/heroic times to finish that stuff up because lack of time. |

If you are a tank or a healer, the wait time sure is small. But if you are queuing as dps, the wait times get a bit longer. |
