Re: [Internet] Facebook issues said by george1043 :There is an issue regarding DNS with the Frontier routing system.
TRACERT to www.facebook.com results in a dead stop some place in Rochester NY. Where it stops, geographically, is of no consequence. Where it stops, in terms of network topology, is everything. So is it stopping in the Frontier transit network, or beyond? -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |

 | reply to darcilicious said by darcilicious:Two suggestions have been posted to this thread already:
said by gozer:I would try FB's ip see if that works. 173.252.100.16 And said by george1043 :To resolve the issue go to your network adapter settings IPv4 put a tick mark in manual DNS server settings use DNS1 8.8.8.8 DNS2 8.8.4.4 I tried the first suggestion and it still didn't work.
The second suggestion I might try but Google Chrome just let me log on for a couple of minutes although I could do nothing but post my status in Facebook. Nothing else worked, no checking my wall, reading "see more" comments, checking messages, profiles, etc....just the minimal basics worked.
Maybe this is a good sign that they are working on the problem and hopefully will get things up and running again, soon. |

 | reply to dub I just had a very similar chat with Frontier's tech support. What irritates me is that I tried searching everywhere to see if either company was posting that this was a problem and I didn't find anything until I looked up the Frontier Twitter ID so I could @ them in my update. That's when I found this board and topic. Here's hoping there's a fix soon. I work almost 100% online and with Facebook. If I can't moderate and manage company pages, I don't get paid. |

 | reply to Linda1964 We fixed it! If you have a router through frontier, you have to go into it by typing 192.168.1.1 then click advanced settings, then it will ask you for a username and password which is User Name: admin Password: admin (Unless you have changed it) Then it will ask you if you want to proceed , say yes. Then click DNS Server: Add DNS Entry, Enter Google 8.8.8.8. WALLA Facebook will work! |

| Perfectly safe. That's Google DNS and many of us around here use non-Frontier DNS servers for our connections for various reasons.
Set your primary server to 8.8.8.8 Set your secondary server to 8.8.4.4
That should ensure a complete, two server setup |

 | reply to dub Whoever was blocking FB, unblocked it without warning about 30 min ago. I hope this is true for all Frontier customers. |

 | Not to start a rumor or anything but this morning I got a telemarketer phone call that started out with some dude with a thick Indian or Paki accent, asking if I was having computer problems. I slammed down the phone before hearing any more of his sales pitch.
Those Gov. Do Not Call Lists don't work either..... |

Re: [Internet] Facebook issues I've been having this issue for 3 days now. You'd think Frontier would have someone on staff that knows a thing or two.

| reply to dub I have the router set to use opendns and have not had any issues accessing FB or any other website using any machine.
Frontiers DNS servers seem to have performance issues I really recommend sticking with googles public dsn servers or using opendns.
I prefer open dns because if you misspell a common host name it will warn you and offer to send you to the right location. Also if you are attempting to go to a known attack site you will also get a warning. |
