Prompted for network username and password
2 Windows 7 HP computers, both have shared folders for the other computer to access. NIS 2012 installed in both computers. Password protection sharing is turned off in both computers. I can see one of the computers from the other and go into it and its shared resources, but when trying to do it the other way around, I get asked for a network username and password. Tried creating a set of matching usernames and passwords in both computers and then entering those credentials - it fails. Tried turning off the Norton firewall in both, no dice.
More data: The prompt for username and pw occurs when I try to open the computer icon for the networked computer, so if I go to network places and double click on the "computer B" from computer A, it prompts me from username and password to connect.
However, if I type the IP address like \\192.168.1.43 it shows the contents of the networked computer no problem, and I'm able to map a network drive to a shared resource.

Nobody has any suggestions?
This is not so much a networking issue as it is a Windows issue.
