 | do people still use monowall Guys who here runs Monowall and if so how is the performance also what are you using it for vpn, firewall, core router etc and what hardware do you have it on? I ask because most guys I know use Pfsense and seems like Monowall does not get much attention anymore. Anyway just curious I need to replace a firewall at home this weekend and I'm trying to see if I should go with Mono or Pfsense. |

Given that they don't make WRAP boards anymore and that there are lots of SBCs out there that can run pfsense I see no reason to limit yourself. -- Strange as it seems, no amount of learning can cure stupidity, and formal education positively fortifies it. -- Stephen Vizinczey |

I think monowall is used more on systems with less RAM. |

| reply to watts3000 Last I checked, monowall had better routing performance than pfsense, and it definitely has lower hardware requirements. The mailing list is still active and the lead developer is involved. The latest update to mono was just a few weeks ago, and I believe there is a significantly updated release in the works.
That said, pfsense has many useful features that mono lacks. I use pfsense at home, but then I'm not your typical home user. -- db |
