<description><![CDATA[Smith6612 posted : Avast! has a network scanning component in there that real-time scans network traffic. It's quite CPU heavy so on slower processors, speeds do suffer greatly. A 2.2Ghz Pentium Dual Core for example, goes 100% CPU with one core Windows Interrupts, another core Avast! scanning when downloading at close to 8MB/s. Disabling Avast! brings usage down to 30% CPU downloading at 100Mbps on the same CPU.<br><br>You can shut off the scanning component (Network and Web shield) or disable some of the more resource intensive scanning features of it.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[Darkhand posted : Hey All,<br><br>I started having problems with my speeds a few days ago and my wife said she was having problems as well. I checked both of my PCs and sure enough I was getting really low speeds.<br><br>FIOS Checked on all areas and just sent a tech out to my house and gave me a new Fios (Red1?) router. Yet I was STILL having speed problems.<br><br>So I disabled AVAST! Anti-Virus and all of the sudden BOOM my speeds jumped back up.<br><br><a href="http://speedtest.dslreports.com"><img border=0 src="http://www.dslreports.com/im/103499217/774.png"></a><br><br>Is anyone else having issues with their AVAST! AV and their internet connections? I have not messed with the AVAST! settings at all.]]></description>
