Splitter

I have 3 questions in regard to the splitters:

1) Are the splitters used in FiOS different from the splitters used in regular cable network? I see some splitters sold that are marketed specifically as MOCA splitters for FiOS - is it just a marketing ploy?

2) Should the unused outputs on a splitters be capped with terminators like in a regular cable network?

3) Does splitting weaken the signal?
Right now, the main line from the ONT is split 2 ways - one to the living room and one to the basement.
Then, the one in the LR is split 2 ways to the DVR and the Actiotec.
The line going into the basement is then split 2 ways to a DVR and a STB.
I want to split the main to 3 ways to add a line to the home office upstairs. Is this going to affect much on the signal?

1) MOCA splitters need to be rated at 1Ghz or better. Other than that they are no different.

2) Yes.

3) Yes. Every split introduces about 3.5 db of loss. The signal out of the ONT tends to be fairly hot and can usually be split a number of times. Try it and see if it works.
