Actually, you're the one who needs education. As limegrass69 posted, it clearly states on Cablevision's web site that your version of the Kindle is not supported, so you have you and only you to blame.

He did say he called Cablevision directly. His only fault was being naive to think that all support people had all the knowledge.

Did you not check device compatibility before you purchased the device?

It also says that they are working hard on getting those devices supported -- so maybe you'll be in luck soon. You could switch to the 7" Kindle if you need instantaneous gratification.
