caribconsult posted : I'm not using the 598 any longer....upgraded to 4G with a Sierra 313U, but I've had a lot of experience with the 598 and Millenicom, and I would say your assessment that you are on 1xRTT is correct. Your speeds and ping certainly indicate that. WHY you have dropped down is the question. Probably tower issues in your area. A drive to a different location MAY prove that out, but your whole local area could be affected depending on where exactly the roadblock lies within Sprint.

Now this is merely IMHO, but as 4G takes over and more and more areas move up and into LTE service and beyond, I think the carriers will be devoting fewer resources to maintaining and upgrading their 3G networks. Again, just my opinion. If you have the option of moving to 4G, believe me it's worth it. The speed difference is striking.
--
Sierra 313U/AT&T 4G LTE in Cradlepoint CTR500 router, 2 LinkSys WiFi a/p, 4 XPPro units, FireFox everywhere.

Max Signal posted : These are the same results you had with the 600 . This leads me to believe network issues . At this point I would investigate Verizon . Take a drive with your modem again and try to connect to a different tower . They cannot exclude a particular device as long is it operates on the sprint network, so whoever fed you that info was full of it . Jim is the sprint expert . I would wait for his input.
--
»www.maximumsignal.net/

598 Not Connecting -- UPDATE

mendinfences posted : Sprint tech was connected with me. She had me do a re-set, restart my computer and then do an activation. So, what was different? I think M tech support missed the activation by ONLY looking under Tools rather than on the face of the smartview screen. There is a little block (easy to miss) beside the main line to connect. Gone now, of course, but I think it said ready to activate or something like that.

Look, remote tech support is a TOUGH job. No question about it. Some of these are maybe so obvious that they don't think of them. Unfortunately, that is not a luxury for tech support field.

Jim -- interesting note, the Mobile profile no longer says andre ...., blah, blah; it now has a different name but NOT "celestial" like you said it needed. If I should follow up on that, please let me know.

Gonna do some updates and hope all sticks.

Thank you again, everyone. I am going to post something later for anyone NEW, looking into subscribing to Mill. Some things that would have helped me with this process.

Best,

~leendah
