Edwin was pretty good in Jose's absence last year. It'll be a pretty scary lineup now... Reyes, Cabrera, Bautista, Edwin, Lind, Rasmus, Lawrie, Arencibia, Izturis.

Bonaficio will be a pretty good super utility man. I can't wait for April to get here.

Good enough that Joey Bats 19 wanted to play winter ball. Although the team should be strong enough without him. Jays were losing because JP, Brent, Adam, Rasmus were either on the DL or playing hurt.

+1, am I saddened to lose TDA and Syndergaard? Of course I am, but did we cry in outrage when amazing second baseman Jeff Kent was traded for just 5 weeks of David Cone back in 1992? ....I don't think you could hear anything over the parade noise, and I'd still do that trade today because it put the Jays 'over the hump', They had tasted the playoffs then and needed to taste a world series...

Now you have your "Ace" Romero as your potential #5 guy?...man I'm sure most teams would like to have that, and I'm sure Romero likes it as the pressure is off, he seems to perform better when the spotlight isn't on him, and with Dickey and Buerhle and Johnson and Morrow ahead of him....that's got to speak wonders...who knows, maybe Happ out muscles Romero for the 5 spot? Spring Training just 2 months away!

I just think people have to relax and chill for a bit on this one, did we overpay? Probably, but I'll take it with a chance to strike now vs "hoping for next year...."

Bah, prospects are prospects.....unless they can perform at an elite level (Travis Snider anyone?)....we might as well ship them out for the known commodity....I'd ship them out if I knew the other teams in my division were weak and had holes and that the time to strike was now....

I only really see a couple of "holes" left, CF and 1B....Get rid of Rasmus, bring up Gose he can patrol CF....and get rid of Lind and top to bottom the lineup would be crazy scary......

So I'm willing to bet part of the farm...because you never know for sure whats going to happen with these rookies, Syndergaard is still about 3 years away from being ready so we'll see how that works out....

One thing, injuries to the teams hitters aren't going to stop the pitching of this team. Not sure how it will all work out once Kyle and Drew get back. Drew should be a solid #3 guy. Kyle possibly #2 if he can figure out his shit. (his dad did win the Cy Young) Maybe the Jays will see how things go in June, and if they are leading and have a glut of aces fooling around in the BP, they might get some top prospects from a team needing some help.

Still hope they try to snag Swisher though.

If he's in the middle of the line-up, it's going to be next to impossible to score runs against this team. If Johnson returns to form, and Romero returns to normalcy, they can pitch games before and after him, since both have good fastballs.

As I said, I wouldn't want to face the Jays if I am a Yankee. Jays will need to be out pitched to lose games.

Now think about it, Jose should return to form, Melky should be a great left fielder, Reyes should be awesome up the middle, and I expect ungodly things from Rasmus in 2013, once he's all healed, and I pity the fans in level 500 right field that are not watching because they'll get a ball in the face, a Rasmus ball.

Jays can afford some injuries....they are getting that depth that they need.

Those pitchers do age differently. So 38 or 33 for fastball, probably same difference.

I'm hearing that it will in fact be JP that will be leaving. D'Arnaud will be coming up in May to be starting with the Blue Jays. John Buck will take it for April. Decent source told me, Mike Wilner, although he's not always right.

Not that JP is the best catcher in baseball, but he is very Canadianized -- he wants to be in Toronto like no other player. He's very good with the kids at sick children's. He's also a guys guy because whenever he breaks his hand he doesn't act like a girl, like how A-Rod acted when he broke his hand.

However...

Having 6 starters in the line-up..and by that, 6 guys that have some decent quality that, will make this team hard to hit against. The Jays have sufficient hitting, and with D'Arnaud on the way in, Jays don't really need two top notch catching. I believe D'Arnaud is the legacy of Harry (Roy) Doc Halladay.
