Connecting to IRC with iP5 - APP that works?

I can't connect to IRC with my iP5. What App are you using, successfully so...

I'm using the free version Mango Lite. Is it a case of you get what you paid for?

I looked @ the reviews for Mango Lite, and everyone is saying that you can only chat in #mangochat. Could be why you can't connect to a specific IRC.

I'm not sure but there also might be a problem with rowling.freenode.net -- it's a server in Corvallis, OR. I was able to connect to it via web-based chat client but cannot connect to it via my iPhone app (Colloquy). However, Colloquy can connect to zelazny.freenode.net (also in Corvallis) just fine...

In any case, I like Colloquy but I don't use it all that often...

Its not the app that's the problem... It could be its server list however...

The problem is the shared IP's used for iPhones, iPads, etc, they get banned on IRC for various reasons...

I know i have a helluva time connecting to IRC when I'm tethered to my laptop via my iPhone, and using standard mIRC...

Eventually I find a server that works...

I guess you were on WiFi...

big difference than being on the carrier's 3G/LTE network.

I use Colloquy on AT&T and never had a problem... Well other than that the user list has disappeared in the iPad version. »itunes.apple.com/us/arti ··· 02000481

Thanks Darc! I'm using Colloquy, bit the bullet. Works seamlessly and rock solid on WIFI anyways. Sets me as AWAY when I bring it down and Returned even an hour later.

Thread closed and kudoed!
