[iPhone] iOS 6.0.2 for iPhone 5 and iPad Mini only(?)

Apple has released an iOS update for the iPhone 5 and iPad mini, bringing the iOS version for those devices up to 6.0.2. The release notes for the iPhone says an unnamed Wi-Fi bug has been fixed.

Apparently there's a bug with the update itself, lol.

WPA2 personal seems to like... keep a connection now.

I'll check WPA2 enterprise tomorrow.

I think it has to do with how many people are DLing the update - not an error in the update itself

Yes, at home the signal strength of my two access points seems to jive with reality more (eg the closer one displays a stronger signal now, imagine that). I'll have to wait until Thursday to see how the open wifi spot at work works... But I'm hopeful!

Oh yeah how about that. I'm at full strength where I used to have drops.

I wonder if its more stable or tweaked the display settings?

I wonder why not the iPad 2?

My iPad 2 is fine with with wifi. In fact, it works great at work where my iPhone 5 can't even see the same wifi hotspot.

What wifi-related problems are you having with your iPad 2?

Well, I'm hoping for "more stable" and better detection -- tomorrow I'll know.

Since iOS 6x my iPad 2 has spotty WiFi performance on AT&T hotspots like Starbucks has. I can sit in Starbucks and my iP4S on iOS6 doesn't miss a beat yet the iPad will connect for a while then, even with WiFi bars showing it will not be able to download anything for 5 mins then it works again. This is very consistent behavior. It could be SB changed something in their router but it seems a coincidence.

At home I have no WiFi problems with the iPad.

I didn't say I was having problems. It was my understanding that these Wi-Fi problems stemmed from IOS6, so why no update for the 2,3, or4?

Was just curious -- I would expect that if the wifi problem were solely related to the firmware, I would see the same issues on both my iPhone 5 and my iPad 2 but I don't. My iPad 2 has been rock solid wrt to wifi where my iPhone 5 has not for the exact same access points and physical locations.

So, yes, my iPhone 5's wifi is better now with 6.0.2 than it was (at work and at home), probably as good as my iPhone 4 was at work so that's good.

But... (and I'm not entirely sure) I may be seeing this (new) issue

Seemed like my battery was a lot lower over night last night and didn't recharge as well on the way in to work... I'll be keeping an eye at for that, I guess...

I saw somewhere this morning that 6.0.2 is a battery sucker.

Does this mean that the iPad Mini and iPhone 5 will be wifi compatible with NetGear and Apple wireless routers?

I was hoping for a fix with the iPhone 4...can't get everything you want.

Slim chance but this might help -- have you tried the "Forget this network" and then re-select it?

I have an iPad 2 and a Starbucks nearby -- if I have a chance tomorrow, I'll see if I can see something similar...

Yeah. When I do that I can't remember if it then connects immediately or the problem remains for a while. Either way I know it's not a permanent fix as it happens every time I go in. It'll be okay for 5-10 minutes then start acting up.
