Re: Connecting Portable Hard Drive to Wow Box said by anobix:I thought all putting the HDD on the back of the DVR did was increase the space that the DVR can use. That's correct.
If the OP wants to plug in a HD and use it on his own terms, outside of the DVR function, then he can get any hard drive he wants and plug it in anywhere he likes as long as it's available to the network.
At that point, the gateway's DLNA server comes into play and can play that content to the TVs. But the content is not part of the gateway itself. |

1 edit | OK, sorry about that!
I see this link with the following section ... Accessing Music, Photos, and Videos From Your Computer (And that looks like the reverse direction.)
But I don't think you can just plug a drive into the Media Hub.
I guess I'll keep an eye on this thread to see if there are ways to do what the OP wants!
The NCIS TV shows makes all that stuff look so easy, throwing content to different screens! |

| To expand DVR space, you can. From the UltraTV FAQ list, here's an answer:
"With a 500 gigabyte hard drive, you've got up to 300 hours of SD or 75 hours of HD programming. Need more? You can connect a DVR compatible external hard drive for even more storage."
Standard fare for WOW, for all their DVRs--standalone or Ultra. |
