They were trying to use up the 3800SC engines then. Only the Grand Prix had that engine up until that point.

The 3.6 used in the new Camaro has 300 hp.... The GM 4.3 V6 is getting quite popular with the hot rod crowd...

I had a 4.3 in my Blazer...

Very strong engine, a TON of torque; but never met a gas station it didn't like...

A friend of mine had a early 90's GMC Safari with the 4.3 High Output version... That thing hauled ass for a van, he used to do sick burnouts with it lol....

The supercharged 3800s are the only high output ones I know of. To be honest, I thought the Impala SS of that era used one of the V8s with displacement-on-demand.

Yes, you are correct. It was the V8 that was in the 2008 Impala SS... Earlier SS Impalas had the 3.8 with a bit more output...
