Must be nice...

..to be the incumbants. I don't recall any such conditions on them utilizing their spectrum in a timely manner. I realize that this is some what a quid pro quo in that Dish is getting a waive in exchange for the conditions. However similar conditions on any company buying spectrum would be welcome change.

In other words, they build out the urban areas first that already have many options for service. They then go for the suburban areas for the 70 percent and as usual, the people that need service are left with little or no options. We already have the incumbents to ignore the rural areas.

That's pretty much how this country operates these days. These high population urban areas end up making decisions that effect the rest of the country even if those decisions are not in line for the more rural areas. It's how we pick the President, make gun control laws, etc. If you live out side of the high population areas in the North East or Left coast you do not have a voice anymore.

Actually I'd say those areas have the most voice anymore due to the absurd disproportionate over representation the low population states get in the congress, senate, and electoral college.

Literally about 25% of the population is the tail wagging the dog in current US politics through the insane tea party caucus.

Ironically, it's quite the contrary actually. The coast are who funds (pays for) this country and where the majority of the GDP is generated. However, folks in Middle-America have a say in how the rest of us live and so forth.

For example, in my own state, we are left with poor roads and chronic traffic, because those in the rural parts, who my county subsidizes, refuse to raise gas taxes.

Not to mention, vast sections of Middle and rural America heavily rely on Gov subsidies and industries to even survive - like defense and Agri. These areas are also out of touch with reality and the rest of the world.

Heck, how do you folks think some Joe farmer in the middle of the country affords to buy $150K equipment and a $40K truuuk? From his corn? lol. No sir, from the taxes I am contributing working 40+ hour weeks.

Ironically, because of the folks out there who don't believe in unions, or a livable salary, or benefits, or anything remotely close to the first world, we are stuck working like dogs. Heck , I am paying out of the a-- in my phone bills (12% actually) to fund middle and rural America. The joke was the TEAparty lady who heads up the government against waste org, yet her family farm received over $1 million dollars in gov subsidies.

What do I receive in return for all of this? People who vote against my interests to support their dogma, GM and chemically laden crop, and tainted livestock, that are also treated inhumanely - to save a buck. No offense but nothing that comes out of (R) Middle-America anymore resembles quality. It's also why the People's republic of Crapmart have thrived in these areas too.

Are you to suggest that no one in the North East or Left cost are taking subsidizes? There is a very low rate of Welfare in these urban centers?

I'm not a farmer so I don't get these big subsidizes that you think everyone in Middle America gets. I pay taxes just like you do and I what do I receive for my taxes?

Rapidly increasing health care cost.
Increased taxes.
Gun control in the near future that's based on emotional and knee jerk reactions.

Yeah, it must be rough soon not to be able to obtain ridiculously non-massacre guns. Poor guy.

Soon, you will only be able to buy guns that shoot only 4/5th the previously banned guns!

Quite accurate. Here in the Red Zone we rail against the Federal Government and blame the Left Coast (plus California, of course) for all evils known to man....

.... all while with our hands out at every turn sucking up vastly more Federal Dollars then we ever contribute back.... Welfare State to the core. Thanks, Left Coast!

God for bid that we would consider fixing the root of the problem. Taking any firearm away from someone who is a responsible and safe gun owner won't fix anything.

The facts are the facts bud. 84% of states that RECEIVE more than they contribute in Federal Taxes are Red States. Whereas, 78% of the states that CONTRIBUTE more than they receive in taxes are Blue States. This rhetoric (lie) that only the RWers pay taxes and the rest of America are moochers is a myth.

The underlying difference is that I want my taxes to go towards building and growing America again; you guys want none of this. I want to invest in helping downtrodden Americans get back on their feet and becoming productive members of society; you guys blame them.

You guys shun any of this and only want taxes going to Defense, with even $800 Billion a year still not apparently enough. Think about it, considering the projected cost for Google to build a nationwide FTTH is $140 Billion. Let me guess, that's a waste right, however, $800 billion "is an investment in freedom"

Rapidly increasing health care cost.

Healthcare costs have nothing to do with government and you know it - perhaps not. We have the most expensive healthcare system on the planet, because you guys do not permit a single payer or government run (not for profit) NHS system. Our profit driven model ensures that A to Z get their cut (end to end), while sick Americans go bankrupt. Earning a profit from this group is not only pathetic, it's as low as it can get.

Increased taxes.

Increased Taxes is a no brainer. We're in deficit and have bills to pay. 2/3rds of our deficits since 1981 were accrued under GOP Presidents anyway. In fact, your man Bush and the GOP congress delivered 8 years straight worth of deficits and handed Obama a $1.4 Trillion deficit as a parting gift.

Gun control in the near future that's based on emotional and knee jerk reactions.

"Emotional knee Jerk"... Are you kidding me? Over one million American (Children and adults) have been murdered since JFK was (ironically) assassinated to date, yet you want to talk up guns. What world do you people live in out there, because it isn't reality.

Reforming our outdated and deranged gun laws is a no brainer. 20 children and 6 adults have been executed, yet you have the nerve to even mention guns. Nope, and the talking-points are not going to cut it anymore either.

The 2nd Amendment does not give anyone the right to walk around like it's the wild west and shoot whomever the feel is a threat. It also talks about a "well regulated militia" (aka the army) and the right to a free state (from invading armies). By all means though, you are indeed free to have a musket in your house, just not an entire arsenal of post 18th century weapons.

It won't? Strange, considering the homicide rates of every single other industrialized nation with gun bans and/or very strict rules and laws. Whereas, we own the highest number of guns, yet also the highest homicide rate in the industrialized world too.

Fact is that households with a gun in them, are statistically 20 times more likely to be involved in a homicide. Contrary to popular GOP belief about gun owners 'taking down the bad guys', most Americans are actually killed by someone they know or they commit suicide - very tragic indeed.

Well, we'd better take away anything that could be used as a weapon then.

"Fact is that households with a gun in them, are statistically 20 times more likely to be involved in a homicide."

Source?

I do not think there should be an out right ban on them because they are scary looking guns because it solves NOTHING. An AR-15 (considered a scary black gun) is no more dangerous than a Mini-14. Both shoot the same .223 and both have 30 round magazines available to them. Yet some how we want to ban one over the other.

Obama wants something done in 30 days which means that he wants something drastic done ASAP while emotions are high. This is a bad idea for ANY legislation, not just guns.

I am upset with the NRA and other Pro gun groups for their continued stance that they refuse to compromise on. Let's face it, Obama is going to get his way and take the scary black guns off the market. They need to work for some sort of compromise so that responsible, law abiding gun owners can still own and buy the scary black guns. The best way to do this is to create an NFA type system for the scary black guns at the state level. This way you have a way to screen who's buying this stuff and you can control who legally has these guns in their possession.

Most people don't know that in most states you can still own a machine gun, though they are heavily regulated. So far I can only find two cases in 30+ years where crimes were committed with legally registered NFA machine guns.

The crazy person not having a gun would actually fix the problem of massive amounts of deaths.

Then again, Pro-Gun people prefer to stay away from that notion.
