HNG4 Tech Support says my connection is good... Really?!?

So here's a screenshot of my modem's system state code monitor.

These idiots must be the dumbest techs on the planet..

Is everyone else getting these kinds of system state codes??

How do I find this info? The system control center just shows a green check mark by system state code info.

You seem to be confusing state codes with error codes and/or diagnostic codes. Did you even bother to look those codes up on the definition list? State codes are historical, and mean nothing unless/until you get a red condtion that is not self correcting. Since there are no time stamps on the state codes, they're of little use until reset. When a trur error condition will not clear, state codes should reset with a modem restart. At that time they may (stress may) assist in troubleshooting. Otherwise it's just much ado about nothing

If it helps, think of them like your car doing self-diagnostics whenever it's running. You never see them unless you connect an analyzer. But when they detect an issue that exceeds parameters, they throw an error code. So don't sweat the state codes until they throw a red X

Uhm.. Yes I was getting plenty of red X's on the uplink and downlink catagories in the diagnostics hourly page. During these red X's is when the Sytem State Codes would be produced.

Since the firmware upgrade to 2.1.1.35, the uplink and downlink errors have disappeared. Though, I'm still getting the red X's randomly throughout the day for DNS acceleration.

The system state codes are only zeroized after each modem restart. As I said, there's no timestamp - so you don't have a clue which ones may have been recorded BEFORE the red X. Restart the modem. If the same red X occurs in the same category within the next two hours, you might have a case to apply some state code info. Otherwise, don't put so much stock in state codes

As far as the DNS acceleration, I can't help until I know if it's the (N) or the (I) category, and then I have to know which statistic actually triggered it. Click on the red X, and look for the word BAD. That's the stat that will have triggered that particular X.

I keep a pretty good eye on my diagnostics dialog and what you see in the second photo with the green check marks seems as if a very rare thing cause that was the only time i seen a green check mark on the downlink.

grohgreg, i'm constantly getting red X's no matter if its rainy weather here or at NOC base or if its really good weather.. No matter what time of day, week, or month they still appear every single time in just the downlink, I have tried multiple dozens of times reseting the modem, resetting everything else, turning off web accelerator, nothing.

And when i go to click on a X in one of the hour time frames it either shows "BAD" or "MARGINAL" plus all of the red X's show something different, what the heck does that mean??

Mine is this way because of low signal level from my default assigned beam.. I see a higher level from an adjacent beam but so far can't seem to get Hughes to do anything about it. So start by checking your SQF

I don't have this particular issue with a SQF of ~90. Diablo, what does it show the state codes that set the Red X? When you click the red X you should get something like this that shows why it marked the downlink as bad.

Guys I give up... This new Gen4 and Hughes is so damn frustrating, to much you should know.. Like i said somewhere else, its been giving red x's since the day we had Gen4 installed for the very first time.
I give up cause I feel like i'm running in circles like a chicken with its head cut off.

Strange results, almost looks like your modem isn't recompiling the web accelerated packets properly... Have you tried going for a day or two with it disabled to see if things work normally? When was the last time you rebooted your modem with a full power cycle?

@direcway.com

11.1.4 is related to too many TCP connections being active at one time, it's a known issue... Usually a reboot while you are getting that error clears it up with .34 and .35 software packages.... They are still working on a fix for it.

Then disabling the accelerator is only a test, a test that shows that its on Hughes end.. I knew this whole time(:

BTW: i'm not getting that state code no more., only getting 30.2.2 now.

Not in my case. Whether or not I have WebAccel enabled/disabled makes no difference to the red Xs in the Downlink category. Either way, it's still "fragmentation reassembly errors". Might want to watch yours for a while longer before you come to a firm conclusion. I say this because I don't recall you mentioning red Xs under Web Acceleration (N). Wouldn't surprise me if Tech Support gloms onto that little detail.

State Code 30.2.2 by the way, only keeps track of how many times and for how many cumulative seconds you had Web Acceleration disabled.

Gotta remember Greg, his issue could mostly be related to a web acceleration server, while ours may be something entirely different. I get a red X on downlink only with too many TCP connections. I don't have a single fragmentation error as of late.

If that were my case, I'd go into the Advanced menu and perform a re-installation - on the off chance I'd get assigned to another set of servers. I say this because I've performed half a dozen re-installs in pursuit of this fragmentation problem. The IPGW assignation (gateway ID) changed between several of those attempts.

Easy for you to say, your a computer geek.. I'm not a computer wiz or even close so don't expect me to accomplish something like this.. Last time i tried this it fucked up my entire network then i was nearly banned from getting back onto the network, and believe me if my brother found out i would'nt be on right now.

Why should that stop you from calling tech support and asking them if modem reinstallation is a viable solution? Me - I wouldn't waste time on the phonecall. But you might luck out and have one of them talk you through it. After that, any screwup is on them - not you.
