·Frontier Communi..
| Very angry at Frontier I was chatting with a friend with Frontier, who lives about 10 miles down the road, a very small rural town. With probably 500 people on Frontier there. He has the 7mbps plan...while I live in a town with probably 6,000 frontier customers and all we can get is 3mbps here. I don't know how the heck that is even possible. Can someone please explain this? |

 | We called about 2 weeks ago and asked for it...they said we can't because they don't have the equipment. But don't you think the town with 2 frontier centers and the largest town in the county would get it before a little town get its? |

HankSearching for a new FrontierPremium join:2002-05-21 Burlington, WV kudos:1 | Not necessarily. If the area that has the higher speed was part of the former Verizon then they were required to make improvements to those areas. I recently heard that Frontier received from grant money to help implement those improvements. If you are legacy, like many of us, you're in for a wait. |
|
 | Both areas (my friends and my area) were part of Verizon. Then Frontier bought them out, as you know. |

|
 | Is there anyway to be notified when they get the higher speeds? I really don't want to call monthly to ask. |
|
 | reply to SteveJobs i would think that Customer service would have some answers as to when your area is slotted to be upgraded. Try them 1-800-921-8101 is the number I think... |
|
 | is there anyway to know without calling? |
|
 | I've been told that Frontier will notify you when it becomes available. Our house finally got DSL a year ago, the box is full and we should be getting an upgrade in equipment starting in January.
There is a bright side to waiting - the techs have a learning curve in my location, getting the bonded DSL working correctly. They should have a good grasp on installation bynthe time they get to us.
Hang in there, call once a month to be a polite nag, and encourage your neighbors to do so as well. |

1 edit | reply to SteveJobs I was having the same issues. I got mine turned off for about 2 months now because I was having speed issues.
I had the 3Mbps package and asked several people from customer service if they had anything higher in my area and they kept saying 3Mbps was the only thing available.
I was tired of not having internet so the next day I ordered it anyways. While I was ordering I was told that I could get 6Mbps. Now I'm working with a general manager to get speeds up to 40Mbps.
So basically, what I am saying is don't wait for them to notify you. Keep calling or contacting live support on their website. |

| Similar to my advice given by the manager of our not-NRTC coop that tried BPL, which infrastructure Frontier purchased. He says nag, nag, nag, nag, nag, nag, nag, nag, nag, nag, nag, nag, nag.

| reply to SteveJobs All you can do is call and keep asking. I had 3 meg for about 7 months, decided to call in, said they could give me 24 meg or whatever. I knew darn well I was too far away but when the techs got here they were able to bump it up to 7 and that made me happy enough. I suspect I could have been getting 7 all along. -- HN7000S G16 970Mhz |

| I chatted with the, and they said she didn't know why the smaller town had it first, and she said we will have it by summer.
With the bonded dsl, can you actually get the much higher speeds if you live like more then 100 put from the CO? |
|
 | reply to SteveJobs I understand your frustration but compared to our problems here I would gladly trade you. We can only get the 1.5Mbps and during peak times which apparently is anytime from noon to midnight the internet virtually stops working. We have good signal and attenuation strength but it is almost impossible to check facebook when the internet is crawling like this. I use DSLREPORTS speed test and verify my speeds and during these peak times I get literally less speed than dialup. Something like 7-9kbps. They tell me it is because they oversold this area. Why heck yeah they did. One T1 line can only support up to 40 customers they have 190 people on it. They are adding more everyday, and still selling a "second" dsl connection for half price as if we can use a second slow as heck connection. Twice the suck. ANyway, I have been told we are just SOL until they decided to run fiber and they might not because of the expense...although it is only 3 miles they have to run it...this is BS. |

| Wow! If contact a regional manager, your states attorney general or someone with a higher position, heck, even Maggie Wilderrotter. They used to have a a high capacity T1 here back in 2006, when Verizon was around.
I would also raise heck with them, too. Send countless emails, phone calls, etc, perhaps even stop in at a local CO or building. |

|
 | I chatted with Marie, a frontier rep from Texas.
I know with DSL, you loose speed as you get further away. Frontier is saying with bonded dsl you can get up to 25mbps, but can those speeds only be achieved by living like right next to the CO? |
|
 | reply to SteveJobs Someone is fiddling with something. On my iPhone I never got more then 2.73 and I do like 10 speeds tests so I've done about 500...now it's rocking and being choppy and getting up to 2.82. |
