Since you provided no details in what you want/need from a voip provider, I suggest that you take a look at the GBU: »/gbu

What country are you in?

Where do you need to call?

Do you call a lot or a little?

What features do you need?

Do you want to provide your own equipment or have the company provide it for you?

Do you scuba dive?

And so forth....

I think you should state what features you want for your voip or some details so we can thoroughly help you.

Callcentric- Best for beginners, very good support.
VOIP.MS- Lots of flexibility, mostly reliable, mediocre support.
Flowroute- Less flexibility, excellent support.
Vitelity- Haven't used, but I see them recommended a lot.

Depending on your location (or tolerance for ping times), CWU, F9, & CVI are all good choices. I use all three.

CWU: callwithus www.callwithus.com
F9: Future-Nine www future-nine.com
CVI: Cheap Voip, Inc. www.cheapvoipinc.com (F9's little brother)

Ping time is probably not so important when using CallWithUs as the audio normally never passes their server. The audio goes directly between the carrier and the CallWithUs customer.

Callcentric will give you great service and support, high quality, lots of features, good instructions with a user-friendly website, and several inbound plans and outbound plans to choose from based on your needs.

--------------------------

However, if you expect to need [Paul Revere] capability, then you will want a provider with an IVR. Only a couple of providers offer IVR but on the other hand those providers may lack some other factors. You have to look at the whole picture.

This is an example of [Paul Revere] functionality:

[1] if by Land

[2] if by Sea

Press [3] for "Sarah"

or [4] for Me

Longfellow wrote a poem about it:

Listen my children and you shall hear
Of the midnight call of Paul Revere

But remember, be sure, when quaffing your beer
To pick a provider whose connections are clear....

---------------------------

In Canada, Paul Revere is considered on the wrong side. They honor Laura Secord.

Laura was American by birth, Canadian by choice.

Now Laura Secord had to work even harder than Paul Revere, as Laura did NOT have a horse, she had to walk.

Laura did NOT say "One if by Land, Two if by Sea" but rather something like this:

Press [1] for English

Press [2] for French

Will Montreal use Tim Tebow

Or keep him on the Bench?

Localphone, especially if you do international calling. Low cost provider, best price/performance ratio I have ever encountered. Not well suitable for full blown business use.
Voxbeam- if you are a high volume user and do not need configuration help.

Good points, just to also note that Localphone and Voxbeam are two parts of the same company.

CallCentric is my favorite for small office and home.

Appia Services for meduim and large biz or small who need CRITICAL uptime.

CallWithUS for tight budgets and cheap outgoing.

Future9 for budgets.

Here we go again ... again!

Once again you'all've been had. The classical query "Which is the best Voip provider in the world?" is posed ... and, even after 3 weeks, the anonymous OP never returns to probe further.

you might want to give Broadconnect out they have great service, they are very helpful

MOD NOTE: As has been duly demonstrated by the deleted activity, the user posting this has a business relationship with BROADCONNECT.
That is NOT up for further discussion.

I just checked their .ca site.

They seem to be targeting business customers.

I am an individual, a Canadian from Eastern Ontario, and have not heard of them in the past, so here are a few questions :

Do they offer simpler solutions than a hosted PBX, more like the plans of the providers which we usually discuss here ?

Can I use my own ATA device with them ?

From/for which cities can I port in a number and/or be issued a new one ?

Are they a CLEC ?

CRTC approved them as a "proposed CLEC" in September 2011.
»crtc.gc.ca/eng/archive/2011/lt110930.htm

I don't see them on the CRTC list of current "full CLEC's".

In a letter to the CRTC dated May 23, 2012, Broad-Connect says that they are a local VOIP service provider, that they comply with 911 regs, and that they obtain telephone numbers from the LEC called BellCanada.

If you want to download the letter, a link is on this page. The particular document is a ZIP file which yields two PDFs. Look for the link that is dated 2012-05-23.

I have to say that Canada's CRTC is a PITA. Very difficult website to use, even harder than FCC which is no winner either.

Thanks.

You always seem to enjoy a challenge though.

I would suggest that you picked the tougher of my 4 questions.

Hey I just randomly found this post looking up Broadconnect and thought I would try to answer your question.

-They only offer Hosted PBX

-You can use your own ATA

-BroadConnect supports most major cities and metropolitan areas across Canada, some places are demand driven so you would have to call them.

-They are not CLEC yet, however, they just acquired TL9000 Certification
