[LA] Possible routing problem or maybe DNS issue?

Click for full size
Modem Signal Levels
Having a weird problem here with my Cox Ultimate internet service...

For the past 2-3 days half the sites that i regular are taking forever to load and sometimes even timeout, while others load quickly. For instance, the cox speedtest site loads properly and my speedtests are fine, however, i cant even get to the speedtest.net site!

Things that I have already tried: Reset modem/reset router/tried multiple computers/tried multiple browsers

• make and model of cable modem: Motorola SB6120
• make a model of router: Netgear WNDR4500
• cox speed tier: Ultimate
• signal levels: Attached Screenshot
• if they have splitters and if the cable modem has been plugged into a line directly from the wall: Modem plugged directly into the wall and nothing has changed
• several speed tests to various locations close to where they reside: cox speedtest works fine with 63.7mbps down and 4.3 mbps up, but i cannot even get to speedtest.net. All my speedtests at this site are coming back at around 7-12 mbps down and 4 up which is lowwww for what i pay for!
• are you connected wired or wireless: wired
• are other services such as phone or tv affected? i do not subscribe to other services
• Modem MAC address: 00:22:10:2c:04:70

For what it's worth, I've been experiencing the exact same problems over the last 12+ hours. I'll post my signals later if that's necessary. I just wanted to chime in and let you know you're not alone.

I am seeing it this morning as well in the OKC market. I can't get to facebook or speedtest, but have no problem reaching other sites such as this one or google.

OP's signals look way out of line that would lead me towards packet loss on his end, but with others seeing it too that's likely not the case. All of my signals are within the acceptable ranges.

We're having the same issue up here in BR.
Signal levels from Cisco 3010:
SNR > 43dB
Upstream PWL > 4.1dBmV
DownStream PWL> 39 dBmV

Bonding 8ch down and 4 up.

The last time we had poor service it took cox nearly 7 months to resolve. I hope this isn't another "learning" experience.

Papillion, NE here on the Premier package.

I have been experiencing the same symptoms for about 48hrs now. I was getting ready to switch from OpenDNS to Google's DNS servers before I saw this post :/

Sites are taking forever to load (if they even load..)

I doubt this has anything to do with my signals or router (WNDR4000), but here are my signals on my DPC3010

Here is a trace route to a site that doesn't load (speedtest.net)

OKC here. Been experiencing the same thing for the past 24 hours.

Facebook: OK
Reddit: OK
Imgur: Timeout
Netflix: Timeout

Was using Google DNS. Tried Cox dynamic DNS. Same problem.

EDIT: Cox HSI 3Mbps. Arris modem. Belkin router. Speedtest showed normal speeds.

This service is almost impossible to use in the current state.

I guess they had to unplug some vital piece of equipment to correct the email issue and forgot to plug it back in.

I'm wondering if there were some backbone changes. Doing a tracert to a few sites I am seeing different network hops from companies I do not recognize. For example, who is the domain "tfbnw.net"?

Premier service, SB6121, DIR-655.

Tracing route to star.c10r.facebook.com [31.13.78.71]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 4 ms 2 ms 3 ms 10.1.0.1
2 7 ms 7 ms 7 ms gi-3-1-0.101-ubr02.neh.okc.ok.cox.net [68.12.8.3
0]
3 7 ms 11 ms 7 ms eth3-24-bi01.mtc3.okc.ok.cox.net [68.12.8.58]
4 51 ms 47 ms 51 ms 68.1.4.133
5 48 ms 52 ms 51 ms 206.126.236.191
6 48 ms 49 ms 47 ms ae1.bb01.iad2.tfbnw.net [204.15.20.54]
7 51 ms 53 ms 51 ms ae2.dr04.ash3.tfbnw.net [204.15.21.116]
8 51 ms 47 ms 55 ms po126.msw01.05.iad1.tfbnw.net [31.13.28.223]
9 51 ms 53 ms 49 ms star-01-05-iad1.facebook.com [31.13.78.71]

Trace complete.

Netflix is currently working.

I am near Cleveland Ohio and I seem to be having similar issues. I can load all websites but seeing much lag playing Guildwars2 and trying to do a speedtest.net to austin texas has pretty bad results.

Same issue with my account too b00st3d See Profile. Not a DNS issue because I use OpenDNS. Might be a problem on a larger scale.

Try a tracert to whatever site won't load and see where it drops off.

i think they must have plugged the black box back in, because everything seems to have settled down for now! ill update again if the problem reoccurs.
