b00st3d join:2004-06-12 New Orleans, LA | [LA] Possible routing problem or maybe DNS issue? Modem Signal Levels |
Having a weird problem here with my Cox Ultimate internet service...
For the past 2-3 days half the sites that i regular are taking forever to load and sometimes even timeout, while others load quickly. For instance, the cox speedtest site loads properly and my speedtests are fine, however, i cant even get to the speedtest.net site!
Things that I have already tried: Reset modem/reset router/tried multiple computers/tried multiple browsers
make and model of cable modem: Motorola SB6120 make a model of router: Netgear WNDR4500 cox speed tier: Ultimate signal levels: Attached Screenshot if they have splitters and if the cable modem has been plugged into a line directly from the wall: Modem plugged directly into the wall and nothing has changed several speed tests to various locations close to where they reside: cox speedtest works fine with 63.7mbps down and 4.3 mbps up, but i cannot even get to speedtest.net. All my speedtests at this site are coming back at around 7-12 mbps down and 4 up which is lowwww for what i pay for! are you connected wired or wireless: wired are other services such as phone or tv affected? i do not subscribe to other services Modem MAC address: 00:22:10:2c:04:70 |

 | reply to b00st3d I am seeing it this morning as well in the OKC market. I can't get to facebook or speedtest, but have no problem reaching other sites such as this one or google.
OP's signals look way out of line that would lead me towards packet loss on his end, but with others seeing it too that's likely not the case. All of my signals are within the acceptable ranges. |

popper join:2006-05-30 Baton Rouge, kudos:1 | reply to b00st3d We're having the same issue up here in BR. Signal levels from Cisco 3010: SNR > 43dB Upstream PWL > 4.1dBmV DownStream PWL> 39 dBmV
Bonding 8ch down and 4 up.
The last time we had poor service it took cox nearly 7 months to resolve. I hope this isn't another "learning" experience. |

I have been experiencing the same symptoms for about 48hrs now. I was getting ready to switch from OpenDNS to Google's DNS servers before I saw this post :/
Sites are taking forever to load (if they even load..)
I doubt this has anything to do with my signals or router (WNDR4000), but here are my signals on my DPC3010

Here is a trace route to a site that doesn't load (speedtest.net)

I guess they had to unplug some vital piece of equipment to correct the email issue and forgot to plug it back in. |

 | reply to b00st3d I'm wondering if there were some backbone changes. Doing a tracert to a few sites I am seeing different network hops from companies I do not recognize. For example, who is the domain "tfbnw.net"?
