So a friend spends summers in Maine and gets DSL from [guess who...]
He was unable to send email to his university account port 465. I was not consulted, but Fairpoint support convinced him he had to use THEIR server, port 25. And they don't even offer TSL/SSL.
Does anyone know for sure if Fairport blocking outgoing 465/585/587/etc?
By testing to ANY site with mail ports there; save those within Fairpoint's walls, of course. Fairpoint's blocking is not to one site, but via some ports.
Or I'm pretty sure that that the M-lab test suite include a list of blocked ports. (»measurementlab.net)

But the problem is with a specific server. The ideal test would include that server, as well as others.
