paintrefLook, I see stars join:2003-02-21 Houston, TX | Labor cost for alternator replacement? I have a 1995 Nissan Pathfinder and found out the alternator is going bad.
I ordered one and was planning on to taking it to my mechanic to have it installed.
About how much would I expect to pay in labor to have this done? |

Yes, I believe the pulley will need to be taken off and put on and no, don't need a new belt, the old one was working fine. |

Re: Labor cost for alternator replacement? Just found out my alternator will come with the pulley. Still no new belt.
So does the estimate between $60-$80 still stand? |

PrntRhdPremium join:2004-11-03 Fairfield, CA | Depends on the local labor rate but 1 hour is a good estimate. |

 | reply to paintref I use this site for repair estimates. They tend to be somewhat higher than I can find, if I look around. »repairpal.com/estimator/results |

paintrefLook, I see stars join:2003-02-21 Houston, TX | reply to paintref Just a small update...went to my mechanic to see how much for labor and he quoted me $120 in labor, which includes replacing the alternator and belts (Quoted me $85 for the alternator replacement only).
Figured might as well get the belts replaced too, so as to avoid further problems down the road.
Will be taking it in Friday morning to get the work done. |

paintrefLook, I see stars join:2003-02-21 Houston, TX | reply to paintref All went well today. Went to the repair shop at about 8 am, waited till about 8.30 and was out by about 10 am or so.
Then went to the parts store where I bought my battery to make sure it didn't need a charge and sure enough it didn't (was running at 12.5 volts).
Also decided to get all the belts replaced at the same time.
The new "re manufactured" alternator is working great and I got it for a little more than half off on ebay.
Just happy it all turned out well in the end. Thanks to all who helped out. |

If the belts are more than a few years old, it's good preventative maintenance. -- Buckle Up. It makes it harder for the aliens to suck you out of your car.
