gatorkramNeed for SpeedPremium join:2002-07-22 Winterville, NC kudos:2 | How about... passing a bill that forces all last mile networks to be not-for-profit, and that CEOs have caps to how much they can pay themselves, and of course, like all not-for-profits, all moneys left over have to go back into the network.
and now back to reality, where we all must bow down and worship the all mighty dollar. -- What the heck is a GatorKram? »www.gatorkram.com

B) If one did there would be exactly ZERO takers. Why would a company spend millions if not billions on a last mile network when they can't make ANY money off of it. What is in it for them?
| | | | Re: How about... A.) You are probably right and I would much rather see them heavily regulated or just gutted of their network assets.
B.) Not for profit in absolutely no way whatsoever means, company makes no money. Why and what is in it for them? Because they would still make lots of money by investing in the network.

All the people who WORK for the company get paid, the extra goes back into the company, instead of in the ceo's pocket, or shareholders, etc. -- What the heck is a GatorKram? »www.gatorkram.com

It's just unrealistic in that market.
Have you ever owned a company before? It's YOURS. Your shareholders help fund it, and they deserve their cut. And you took all the risks, so your cut is whatever the company financials can bear, and you deem appropriate.
The decision to put X amount back into the company is for those who steer that ship to decide. If you - and I mean YOU this time - don't like that, vote with your wallet and do business elsewhere.

A company can make $100 mil and still not make a profit. Profit is what is left after expenses. Employee compensation would be part of expenses.
The point is at the end of the day if you own a company and everyone gets paid but YOU then what is the incentive to own such a company? No one is going to invest in such a company. At the end of the day even if everything is 100% paid for but the owners of the company aren't making anything then they won't keep that company going.
