Did the guy dispute it with the collections agency? There are some protections out there for consumers. When a bill goes in to collections, you have the right to dispute the charge. If the guy had all the documentation, it should have been no problem. Also, you are allowed to dispute items on your credit report. I find it hard to believe that the bank charged him 1% more for unreturned equipment fee of a couple of hundred dollars.
Was Comcast wrong? Yes. Did the guy dispute the collections? It wasn't mentioned. Did he dispute the line item on his credit report? Again wasn't mention. Should Comcast pay $26,000 because this guy signed a legal agreement to pay 1% on a home loan? No. I'm pretty sure this won't hold up in court since it's unclear if the plaintiff exhausted all avenues of recourse. |
