No and No...neither of the concerns you mentioned in the last two posts are actual. The naming thing we discussed...applies to your concern in recent post 1. Post 2 leave the MTU alone.

While the MTU may not be directly related to high latency, why would I want the MTU set higher then the maximum packet size the next node would ever send me? Most router manufacturers even have tutorials on modifying this setting to avoid packet loss.
