Poll about World of Warcraft

Poll
Flavored Carbonated Sugar Water is Called:

Pop

Soda

Votes:74

This place is dead, we need conversation.

Yes, those are your only two options.

Soda-pop is ignorant and doesn't qualify.

Calling everything Coke is ignorant and doesn't qualify.

I do. From Chicago.

Someone from Las Vegas calling the East Coast weird? Nothing odd about that...

Midwest calls it pop, being from Michigan that's what I call it.

I about flipped out on a waitress in Texas when I was stationed there. I asked for a Coke to drink and she asked me what kind. I asked what the options were, then she said Pepsi, diet, Mt Dew and root beer. And I informed here that those are PepsiCo products and therefore not legally allowed to be called Coke.

He was dumb before, he's dumber now. Takes a brain to be an average quarterback. Cutler doesn't have it.

Might have, but all I had was a slice of coconut cake that was from the display case and I saw her cut it only 5 feet from me. I had been told by my buddy to not order anything from the back after my flippant remark.

POP.

Minnesota. I think its already been stated but most of the midwest calls it pop. I think soda is a coastal thing.

When I hear soda the first thing I think of is baking soda.

It's more then that:

In my home state, it's soda [NY].
In GA it's coke [no matter what it is]
In the mid west it's pop.

Hence, I tend to use all 3.
On rare occasions, I'll ask for a phosphate.
That is, if the establishment has a soda jerk.

For some people, I guess calling all soft drinks like coke and pepsi, Coke or Pepsi is ok, but how many of you call cotton swabs q-tips.

I call it soda for the most part.

One of several maps that show typical monikers for this beverage:

I've always called it coke. When asking for it at a restaurant that serves Pepsi, they usually say "we have Pepsi, is that OK?" At which point I ask for root beer instead.

I use both (not at the same time) depending on my mood.

Sometimes i'll simply ask for a "cool refreshing beverage".

Most of my dad's family is from Pittsburgh so I've heard worsh more than a few times. Same with yunz and why they had to go to the sah side of town. I go nuts trying to comprehend anything with the heavy Italian accent that has somehow still survived with them along with the Pitsburghese.

Originally growing up in California and living in Minnesota, I'd always cringe hearing people call it pop. Same thing hearing people pronounce karoke as ka-row-key instead of carry-okie.
