Midwest calls it pop, being from Michigan that's what I call it.

I about flipped out on a waitress in Texas when I was stationed there. I asked for a Coke to drink and she asked me what kind. I asked what the options were, then she said Pepsi, diet, Mt Dew and root beer. And I informed here that those are PepsiCo products and therefore not legally allowed to be called Coke.

Might have, but all I had was a slice of coconut cake that was from the display case and I saw her cut it only 5 feet from me. I had been told by my buddy to not order anything from the back after my flippant remark.

It's more then that:

In my home state, it's soda [NY].
In GA it's coke [no matter what it is]
In the mid west it's pop.

Hence, I tend to use all 3.
On rare occasions, I'll ask for a phosphate.
That is, if the establishment has a soda jerk.

For some people, I guess calling all soft drinks like coke and pepsi, Coke or Pepsi is ok, but how many of you call cotton swabs q-tips.

I call it soda for the most part.
