| reply to Snuffbox A few years ago the local paper in Syracuse did an actual survey about this very subject. There is an invisible barrier between Rochester and us. In Rochester they say "pop" and we say, and rightly so I might add, "soda". They found the dividing line was in the National Park Montezuma Swamp that sits almost halfway between the two cities. There's a chain of grocery stores up here "Wegmans" which is based in Rochester that sold a soda here called WPOP and we all thought "why is Wegmans' starting a radio station?" -- Who said: "In a nation that was proud of hard work, strong families, close-knit communities, and our faith in God, too many of us now tend to worship self-indulgence and consumption." |

Ex: When tailgating, coolers are full of cokes (among other non-sodas). This could include diet/pepsi/mt.dew/dr.pepper - and Coke classic. -- "The key to flying is falling and not hitting the ground." |

 | reply to Snuffbox I never heard anyone call it pop in real life (on TV yes), until I worked with a dude from Ohio. I was born and raised in the Bronx, now living in Phoenix.
On a side note, I never had to request "no mustard" on a hamburger until I moved out of the NYC/Long Island area. Mustard is for hotdogs damn it -- Justice For Police Officer Daniel Faulkner |

Re: Poll about World of Warcraft I say Pop and I am located in Indiana. But when I lived on the East Coast (Virginia and Connecticut) they say SODA. LOL
But what brought up this Poll?? |

In my home state, it's soda [NY]. Western NY/PA has always been pop for as long as I've been here (which has been awhile). A four year stint in CT though taught me that it is called soda there. (And subs are called grinders (crazy right?)) |

Carpie join:2012-10-19 united state kudos:1 | reply to TheThing On the Pepsi vs Coke issue, I'll drink either. So rather than try to order either by name, I try to order a "cola". Although that should allow flexibility and provide enough information to them in which to match to their product line, it usually just gets more confused looks than anything. |
