Re: Does the world end at 12:00 AM or 11:59 PM on December 21?

said by Thane_Bitter:

My disappointment was limited to this mornings weather, I was hoping to catch a glimpse of the sunrise since it rose the farthest to the South today.

That's right, today was the shortest day. From now on, days are getting longer, birds are starting to make plans to come back north and twittering in the trees again, and stores are planning their spring sales. Seriously, in terms of solar forcings, next summer is beginning. Unfortunately there's a huge lag between the immediate forcings and the visible results, and a lot of snow and miserable cold in between.

Although technically the days have been ending *later* in the day since December 15th. (4:46 December 14th and 4:47 December 15th for Kitchener) Though we're still losing time (until today) because the mornings are losing a lot of seconds. That trend continues until July 1st when you start losing light at the end of the day. Weird how that part works.
