Newbie question about setup.

I have been Comcast customer for 30 years. This week our condo just installed Verizon FIOS TV, so I am considering switching if I can keep my current setup.

Basically at my home I have five viewing/recording devices. With Comcast I only need one big set of top box for viewing all kinds of cable channels in my main viewing room and one small digital adapter for recording HGTV (a basic cable channel). I also have three HDD recorders with QAM tuners to record local station channels. For me to switch, I want to get only two tuners box/adapter, not five, from Verizon. Is it possible?

I remember someone told me Verizon FIOS must use its own tuner box, not device built-in QAM tuner, thus my question. Thanks for any help and hope this is the right place to ask.

I am able to receive all non-scrambled QAM channels, local plus some others with any QAM capable receiver.

If it definetely has QAM Built in tuner, then you can do locals (SD, and HD) and PEG (Public Access Channels)
