Re: [speed/latency] Losing packets
#1 In the RJ-45 WAN port router go to LAN Setup
#2 Where it says IP Address, change that so that it does not start with 192.168.1 - for example set it to 192.168.2.1
#3 Press Apply
#4 Release and renew the IP Address of your computer.
For example if you are on Window XP..
a) Go to Start -> Run.
b) Type in cmd and press enter,
c) In the new window, called the command prompt, type in ipconfig /release and press enter.
d) In the same window, type in ipconfig /renew and press enter.
#5 With your web browser go to the new LAN IP of the RJ-45 WAN port router.
#6 In the RJ-45 WAN port router go to Basic Settings.
#7 Record down the settings that there, as you will need them latter on.
#8 When asked if your connection requires a log-in, select No.
#9 For the Internet IP Address, change it to Static.
#10 Then enter in these settings..
IP Address: 192.168.1.5
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
#11 For the DNS Servers, select Use these DNS Servers and then type in 192.168.1.1 for the first DNS Server.
#12 All other settings, you can leave alone.
#13 Press Apply
#14 Visit »192.168.1.1/ for me and do the following:
a) If you see a Blue and White Westell page, mouse over Troubleshooting, go to DSL, and choose Transceiver Statistics. Copy and then when on-line Paste the information on that page.
b) If using the Red and Black Firmware: Go to System Monitoring > Advanced Monitors > Transceiver Statistics. Copy and then when on-line Paste the information on that page.
c) Try visiting »192.168.1.1/transtat.htm which is a direct link to the Stats on older modems.
d) If you need a Username and Password, try the following:
By Serial Number, I don't mean type in the words Serial Number. I mean find and type in the serial number found on the bottom of this router.
#15 After you get the info, in the RJ-45 WAN port router:
a) Go back to Basic Settings.
b) Change the settings back to what it was at step 7.
#16 Then please post the Transceiver Statistics info that you got from your modem combo.
