Windows 8 compatability

Lack of compatibility with Windows 8 and Internet Explorer 10 is just another issue with how utterly backwards ZyXEL engineers are in the modern world.

Its got nothing to do with bleeding edge --- its got everything to do with millions and millions of windows 8 machines hitting computing environments everywhere and ZyXEL is not keeping up-to date with REALITY.

I contend the continual push to make more money by inventing new OS is a scheme perpetrated by greedy companies and CEOs and supported by unsuspecting IT servicing specialists mired down in attempting to support the insatiable need so carefully established by professional marketing to have the latest and greatest.

Out of curiosity what does that mean exactly? Are you saying that the built-in web pages of ZyXEL routers don't work with IE10? I'm not sure how their products could be "incompatible" with any O/S (Win8 or otherwise).

yes, that is what I am saying. One can get IE10 to work by choosing Compatability mode but that adds extra work.

Interesting. I doubt ZyXEL's products are doing anything fancy in their web pages. More than likely it's standard HTML. Perhaps it's an IE10 issue (I don't use IE and don't have IE10).

I have the USG-Issue "Invalid address object" with all my browsers. It is not common, that I have always to clear the browsers cache. Thus USG has only a little bit more issues with IE10.

There was some chat at the "official" zyxel.com forums about the SSL vpn not working with Win8 clients, so perhaps that's what the OP is getting at. If true, it is a valid point considering that Win8 pre-releases have been publicly available since at least March 2012.

Bring up XP Mode in Win 8 if you have the hardware to support it.
Does that browser work with the USG?

Now I concur with that one. SSLVPN is an important component of the USG series (compared to earlier firewalls) and they should be on top of that ASAP. One would hope its already covered and if not testing should be completed soonest and firmware updates isssued.

They would then have to face the "Terror of the Tong" and that is something that they would not want to do under any circumstances. The Tong still have significant influence in chines circles. Since I was born in Shanghai I can leave the rest to your Acerbic musings.
