fartnesscomputersoc dot comPremium join:2003-03-25 Look Outside 2 edits | How to find good airline deals/best way to fly in Asia Is there anything I can subscribe to that will send me really good deals on airfare? Tripadvisor has been sending me deals on some things I've searched and it helps, but I didn't know if there's anything else that is worthwhile.
This can be for both things that I search for (places I want to go) and random spots that are actually good deals that I might consider going (such as one seat left in two weeks, buy the ticket for $100 kind of thing). |

| Re: How to find good airline deals Most airlines are so oversold that they rarely need to offer blowout deals. That being said, if you want to purchase and not on a whim, forget Expedia, Kayak, Hipmunk, or any of the others:

fartnesscomputersoc dot comPremium join:2003-03-25 Look Outside 1 edit | reply to fartness Also another question... I have frequent flier miles on one of my credit cards. I will fly to Asia maybe this summer or next for free. Let's say I fly to Hong Kong, what's the best way to get to Thailand, Japan, and India?
Even if I don't use my frequent flier miles for it this time, what is the best and cheapest way I can do: 1. New York to 2. Hong Kong to 3. Bangkok to 4. Tokyo to 5. Mumbai to 6. New York
I plan on spending 4 weeks out of the country. Not sure if I should book a roundtrip to Hong Kong and stay there for a week, then once I'm there do a round trip to Bangkok for a week, then once I'm back in Hong Kong, do a roundtrip to Tokyo for a week, then once I'm back in Hong Kong, do a round trip to Mumbai for a week, then once I'm back in Hong Kong, I'll catch my final flight back home to NY. Seems excessive though, but I guess could be cheaper if Hong Kong (or insert other city I mentioned) is the cheapest to fly out of rountrip.
How I described it would be: 1. New York to 2. Hong Kong to 3. Bangkok to 4. Hong Kong to 5. Tokyo to 6. Hong Kong to 7. Mumbai to 8. Hong Kong to 9. New York
That adds 3 extra flights compared to my example that I'd rather do.
EDIT: Hong Kong does seem cheaper if I use it as a hub though. Example is $250 for Hong Kong to Tokyo roundtrip, versus $500 for Bangkok to Tokyo roundtrip.
EDIT2: Vietnam looks cheap and safe. I'm thinking about substituting that for maybe Tokyo.
For any country I listed in this post, do I need to get shots or anything from a doctor? |

fartnesscomputersoc dot comPremium join:2003-03-25 Look Outside | If I cut India and Tokyo out, here's a calendar of an example that I might do, assuming I fly roundtrip everywhere using Hong Kong as a hub (would it save money if I flew from place to place?)
Or I could use my FF miles and get the ticket from NY to Hong Kong from June 29 to July 26th (assuming it takes 2 days to get there and 2 days back), then do another ticket from Hong Kong to Beijing to Bangkok to Ho Chi Minh City to Hong Kong, this way I'm only completing two transactions. Would that second transaction be cheaper doing it that way, or using HK as the hub and doing rountrips each time like I showed in my calendar? |

fartnesscomputersoc dot comPremium join:2003-03-25 Look Outside | Last post for awhile, lol... using my goofy roundtrip method which seems to waste a lot of time, it comes to $837. Using one city to the other, it comes to $1078. Might be worth the extra $250 to just do the one ways to each city, so I save time. |

Re: How to find good airline deals Depending on the restrictions of your free ticket awards and the demand for travel at your desired time, you might find the free tickets are sold out. It's common to have to book free travel 12 months in advance, especially since you seem to be locked-in to certain dates. |

fartnesscomputersoc dot comPremium join:2003-03-25 Look Outside 3 edits | What about street food in any of these countries below. Can I eat it? I ate street food in Turkey with no issues and there were warnings everywhere about not drinking the water. I drank the water multiple times BEFORE I saw the warnings and I was fine.
1. China 2. Thailand 3. Vietnam 4. Cambodia
Do I need shots if I go to any of these countries? Will I likely get diarehea anyway since my body isn't used to their native diseases? What about Dukoral? Where can I get it and do I need it?
Also, should I book the hotels online or wait until I get there? Or book China and maybe Bangkok online, then the other two when I get there? |
