MoCA Question - you folks know best...
Thinking about MoCA. The cable run from the pole is split outside the house. Run 1 to the second floor hooked up to the cablemodem, then to wifi router. Run 2 into the basement where it is a) amplified by a CV supplied amp, and b) split for the runs to three separate TVs.
Can I put a MoCa adapter on cable run 1 before the cablemodem (but obviously after the outside split), and still have it function with devices off of cable run 2 (where one TiVo has built in MoCA), even though the main split is before both MoCA adapters?
As long as the splitter is rated for at least 1GHz, it should work. The only thing I'd be concerned about is the amp - depend in the make/model, it may not pass the MoCA frequencies.
Also, I'd recommend putting a MoCA filter on the Modem (some people have trouble with cable modems and MoCA for some reason) and a PoE filter outside before the splitter to keep everything contained within your home.
BTW, if you have Ethernet connected to the TiVo now, you can use it as a MoCA bridge - no additional hardware required.

Amp is an Antronix ARA1-15 with a freq. range of 52-1000MHz. I saw PoE filters discussed, but not MoCA filters, and neither appear to be readily available from sources such as Amazon or Newegg. Any suggestions??
