[WIN8] Win8 Trial for learning

I am looking at buying a new laptop soon and I notice that all the new ones come with Windows 8. I have no idea on how to use Win8. Is there a trial out there that I can download so I can learn how to use it?

Yes, you can download the Enterprise version for 90 days. Note that you can NOT upgrade from this version so you should consider it very much a trial.

If you have enough RAM on your existing computer, you can install this evaluation version within something like Virtual Box.

When are they stopping the trial? Any idea?

No idea but I'm sure that once you download and install it, you will be able to use it for 90 days regardless.

Preview versions die at the end of January, IIRC.

There's not that much difference really. You can pretty much ignore Metro and click right on through to the desktop, or even install something like ClassicShell to make it even more like previous versions.

So it's not worth getting the 90 day trial if it's only going to last 30 days?

That's a question that only you can answer. IS it worth it to you to try for 30 days?

Time to back up my current Win7 installation, try Win8 and if I don't like it than restore the backup image.

Sounds like I got till August.

"- You must complete activation before August 15, 2013, to use this evaluation.
- Once you activate, you have up to 90 days to use the software. You can track the amount of time you have left by referring to the “watermark” in the lower right corner of the Windows desktop. "

Got a spare hdd? I suggest a clean install to another drive with no other hdd present, and use the bios to switch the booting drive with f11/f12, no need to mess with installing over, otherwise messing with a software dual boot.

I got tons of spare HDD's but they are all IDE though and my motherboard does not have any IDE controllers only SATA. Oh darn.

Got Win8 installed, took the updates and now it won't boot.
Checked the latest BIOS listings for my motherboard and noticed one of them said 'Modify for Windows8 shut down behavior.' Hmmm... Maybe that's why it won't start up.
Over all interesting 'Start' page and first run screens. How did it get in to my facebook? It's pulling all my pictures and friends to the 'Start' page.

Got it running after the 2nd install and now it says the license expired. How can it expire if I just got it? So much for 90 days, more like 90 minutes.

Is there like a fix for this?
