As much as I would hate to miss out on The Daily Show/Colbert Report, I think CV should stand its ground and cut the channels. Fuck publishers and their constant money grab! Until they offer us a la carte, cut every channel that demands price hike! |

Those 2 shows (also the only 2 I'd watch - my son is only 6 months old so no demands for Nick yet) are also legally viewable the next morning on the web. If Comedy Central was offered a la Carte I don't think I'd pick it up. CV can't be that extreme, or they will definitely take a hit in cable subscribers, and as a result, other services from people who bundle elsewhere. |

Viacom has no issue pulling streaming content during a dispute :\. |

But I wouldn't be surprised if viacom were dicks enough to block access to ISP with which they have disputes or don't have agreements.. |

Well, at the stroke of midnight when the ball has dropped, switch over to a Viacom channel. If they are running another of those messages about a dispute I guess we know the answer. |

My daughter's 12 and no longer watches Nick et al. Fine with me if the channels go away. |

From Multichannel News.... "Viacom and Cablevision Systems continued to negotiate on Monday evening, ahead of the midnight expiration of their carriage contract, according to sources"
Hard to believe people are working on New Years Eve. Sounds like they are trying to get this done. |

I'm sure the people involved in the negotiations were not thrilled in having the expiration tonight. However, we get to keep the channels. |
|
|
Is there an agreement there's no news about it anywhere. |

(yes I'm one of the few that still watches music videos on tv) you should be interested in this » www.avsforum.com/t/27572 ··· ta/16380TheCoolTV promotes itself as "A music channel that plays music, Period". It is a 24/7/365 U.S. digital subchannel that is programmed primarily with music videos, genre-specialty shows, and interactive request programs. It is also unique in that it is a subchannel which shares broadcast TV bandwidth with nearly every major network affiliate broadcaster, including ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, and others throughout the United States. There is no official word yet on HOW TheCoolTV will enter the NYC market, but if OTA terrestrial TV broadcasting is the chosen vehicle, there are a few models on the showroom floor from which to choose. The most likely option is WKOB-LD New York, Channel 2. With six standard-definition streams available to deliver content, this low-power TV signal offers content providers an affordable option to enter market #1. All but one of the streams are presently occupied; the primary stream (Virtual Channel 42-1 labeled "WKOB-LD") is currently vacant with an EBR Test Pattern sans audio. The station recently added Punch TV to its lineup on virtual channel 42-3. And since TheCoolTV presently airs over KTAV-LD Altadena, CA. virtual channel 35-2, it is worth noting that the channel lineup on the Almavision-owned low-power TV station is very similar to that of Nave Broadcasting's WKOB-LD in New York. |
