Pre-wired house with Cat5e
Cat5e blue cable
I just discovered my house is pre-wired with multiple cat5e cables. One of them is currently setup for telephone which is not being used and the other I' assuming was setup for networking. The yellow cat5e is currently connected to 6 wall jacks. The blue cat5e cables are not setup at all (no connectors at either end). I want to leave the yellow cables alone for now and just use the blue for the network. Is the setup just as simple connecting/wiring each blue cable to to RJ45 jacks on one end and the other end putting RJ45 connectors and connecting to a router or a switch into a router? If so, the blue cables are a little short (can't see them in pic). Is there anyway to extend them first and then wire?

On the panel end get a network RJ45 punchdown block and terminate the blue cables to it. Then use patch cables to connect to a router/switch.
Those will be solid wire cables, putting male plugs on them will not be reliable.
