Uverse vs TWC in Orange County, CAI am moving to a new house in orange county and I will get TV and internet service. TWC offers 50/5mbps and Uverse offers only 24/3. I am a gamer myself and reliable/ low latency service is my top priority. Which one is better in Orange county area or just in general?
Thanks in advance. |

U-verse with TV uses VDSL. VDSL is set to Interleave. Interleave adds to latency; as much as 25 ms. Cable will almost always beat VDSL on latency. |

The Uverse technician came to install today and to my surprise it is FTTP. In this case would TWC still beat Uverse? |

Probably no more than 1% of the AT&T footprint delivers U-verse via FTTP. I don't think it is VDSL in the case of FTTP U-verse; and the latency should be much lower than TWC. |

I confirmed it with UV Real Time. The house was built in the new developed community. There is box on the wall of my house and the technician said we are lucky that we don't have any coper line. The box is to convert fiber signal to digital (something like that).
Why does AT&T offer such a slow speed compared to its competitor? TWC in this case offer 50/5 for a similar price. Is there anything I can do to make it faster than 24/3 as it is FTTP? |

No. AT&T has chosen to limit Internet speed on its FTTP plant. Some information in this thread: » AT&T U-verse FTTP speeds, why do they limit fibre to 18/1.5?Are they actually delivering 24/3 on FTTP now? |

Sigh I thought ATT is better than this. When I tried to setup a month ago the maximum speed I can choose was 18/3. I asked the live chat agent why, and she told me it depends on how far I am from the node (obviously they can't tell my address is FTTP). I checked again last week and the 24/3 option was there. So I guess 24/3 for FTTP is new??
I kinda want to order TWC as well and try both. Their 50/5 is really attractive to me. If I ended up not using Uverse all I have to do is return the modem and TV box? At least I should call them and see if they can give me a cheaper offer... |

Did you have to sign up for 1 year with Uverse? I am looking to upgrade from ATT DSL to Uverse in Costa Mesa. |
