Upgraded speed about 2 or 3 months ago to 70 down.
Was using a zoom 53441J. Speeds were fine, latency seemed a little slower than with my old plan.
About 3 weeks ago SNR started going out of spec and then into spec.
It cleared up and i cancelled a truck roll. 12/21 it started up again and would cycle in and out of spec every 45 minutes or so. RCN couldn't get a tech out till 12/28.
Since the RCN rep wanted to blame the zoom mode I went and got a SB6121. That did nothing to resolve problem.
RCN tech came 12/28 came and the only thing they did was to take the rcn cable/phone box off the side of my house and switch my phone line to VOIP. They also switched the splitter at the house drop and in my office. Office was a dual splitter for cable modem/cable tv. Now it is a triple to include the voip modem.
Both the Zoom and the Motorola would behave the same -- seem to lose the signal, then they would cycle through their routine to try to lock the signal and sometimes internet would come back.
Tech never ran any kind of tests on the lines other than me pulling up the MD speedtest.
Everything seemed to be fine when the tech left 12/28 but now the cycling in and out of spec has started up tonight. |

RCN tech is supposed to be coming today to see if they can figure out what is going on.
Thanks for any help you can give negativeduck.
Right now FSNR is 32.9. Earlier it was 30.
It will fluctuate from 28 to 38. |
