Charter in the Cookeville, TN(Walter Lane) area

I've been loyal to Charter for many years now and for the most part have been treated fairly well and have no known issues with my internet in the past.

But this week is different. Charter employee came around 1800ish to install a new cable modem and my down was over 50 Mbs, which is fine. Ping was fine. Everything was fine for a few days. But now everything has gone to utter feces. Downs ranging from .85 to 8Mbs via Speedtest.Net and hey, look there, the Charter speedtest website cannot even detect my ping and give me a reasonable answer.

I would like to know why there is this much difference in service. Spike times and surrounding people in the other apartment complex could be a reason why my service is down the drain, but with the advances we have in technology, I shouldn't suffer because more people choose the Charter option.

Before you point to my computer specs, it isn't a computer problem. A 3.5k personal gaming computer with top end equipment feeding directly into the cable modem isn't the issue.

It's teh dataz meng.

I have tried researching the problem and fixing it myself. Tracing pings, plotting pings, power cycling, etc. All the normal things google tells you to do, ya know.

Just want to know why I am having such a difference in service and if it is even worth calling Charter in my area about. Oh and also, I believe I am being rerouted to the Kingsport, TN area which has had a history of failed internetz. I'm curious why I can not just be routed through Nashville, seeing how I have a better ping from that area.

Thank you in advance.

Can you post some of those speed test results, signal levels, and trace routes? Screen shots of the results work great.

Just because you spent $3.5k on a computer doesn't mean it can't have issues.

I wouldn't brag about spending $3500 on a personal computer.

Silly question - Why was the modem swapped?
