 3 edits | [IL] Ultra 50- slow upload and newsgroups So for the past 48 hours i have experienced severe lag in games on ps3 making it unplayable.. i re built my pc after a fan stopped working.. to download a tv show i missed i only get 300Kb/s on newsgroups a private ssl service.. i should and have got 5700kb/s on a decent off peak hour day.. then last night and this morning im speed testing everything and i cant upload more then 2mb i was hitting 5mb with ultra service..
i am thinking they have a bad config on my modem.
im just trying to figure out why im not able to do what i have done.. and download off newsgroups
i have changed everything in my router mtu and portforwarded all necessary ports. i disconnected the router/gateway and went direct as well to no avail.
also does mediacom have a pppoe login? or know how to get nat type 1. |

 | I had the same issues for about 3 days, spoke with Chad and he said all was well. I was SURE i had a bad config file, I shut down the entire network, rebooted modem, machines, and router, and even went direct to modem for speedtest and all was well afterwards. I also have newsgroups service. and the downs speed is always slow when i use it , usually between 150-500 k/s via giganews |

it was and should 10/1 20/2 50/5 and 105/10 as advertised?
im getting 38.99/2.15 on a d3 modem
i upgraded network drivers added settings to decrease latency.
tried without router.
tried speed test and just newsgroups..living at 1200kb/s-2100kb/s not 5000kb/s-6400kb/s
i don't care about the speed tests but downloads that's should take minutes take hours because mediacom isn't supplying the proper speeds..
im not capped by the meter i have 999gig a month i have no where near it
so whats the problem.. i dont web surf all day like my wife speeds matter for me why pay 20$ more for something i dont get.. i download, games, tv shows, stream, help others with vnc, and manage websites.. i need a stable and reliable connection that's fast.
so glad mediacom isnt going to be near my new home in Oswego,IL |

 | So I came home today from work did some web surfing tested my connection. 20/2 still so I rebotted my modem. And it wont cycle. It boots and has all lights on but powers flickering uploads amber and link andaandamber blinks before this post however the modem was blinking in codes 3 green orange amber.. I dont know what I should do wait til tomorow or call now or what is it a line issue or a modem issue |

 1 edit | so modem was locked up. woke up this morning to find me online with the same ip..as yesterday, called tech support, they had me reset everything and couldnt see me online.. so put in a tech roll out. this is very very strange.
either modem is going bad! or something was being fixed? and or the service was reset.
do i still need a tech ? |

 | chad~ there is a head end problem in the docsis servers in my area this was the 4th call the tech received on this issue.. they told me till that issue is resolved they weren't able to help me, other then, to fix and replace connections in a mist of that helping. clearing up some noise..
they said no tech over a phone or internet would see the issue as the modem and connection would be good but not bound to 2 channels. only one as there is a issue with a false channel read from the cable modem. as they called the support at the office where the head end is and reported, my connection was only using 1 channel.
that's why i wasn't receiving my normal upload and erratic download speeds.
btw i didn't get just one tech to roll out i had 2.. one was outside and one was inside.. those guys were great.. very knowledgeable.
also told me my router was quite old (wrtn300) with new firmware from wrt-dd so ill be upgrading so there is less issue in the future. |
