Walden, NY | [General] 3G being sacrificed for LTE?? I'm using a Blackberry 8230 (Pearl Flip) in a VZW territory which recently turned on 4G LTE. Lately the signal indicator on the BB mostly indicates "1x" only, when it usually displays "1xEV".
Does this mean VZW is already turning off 3G in known LTE markets?

| there should be a few more years of 3g yet. They were still selling iPhone 4s with two year contracts that they have to honor. They are also selling a few other phones that don't do 4g on two year contracts. |

3G is going to be around a long time . There are many industrial applications using it . It would be too expensive to reconfigure all of those

They haven't started turning off any 3G yet, but they are pulling resources from it for LTE and giving it priority. |

Good to know! Thanks everyone; this BB is crap anyway, Bluetooth stopped working after the latest OS update. I'll do an ESN swap in a few days.

Re: [General] 3G being sacrificed for LTE?? Sense 4g/lte has been turned on in my area my speeds on my iphone 4 have gradually gotten slower and slower.. So, guess they do give priority to 4g on speeds.... Sucks really, 3g is soo slow compared to 4g it shouldn't even have to be prioritized to promote the 4g speeds.. After all, most of us are now on their super premium happy fun go cash data plans. |
