Teksavvy vs Tomato firmware...Hi!
Did anybody have any problems using the Tomato firmware with Teksavvy?
The two times I tried (with a WRT54GL and a ASUS WL-520GU), it didn't work, I had to revert to the previous firmware.
If I used the router flashed with Tomato only as an access point with another router connected to Teksavvy everything went fine.
I know Teksavvy use (or used) a variant of Tomato to do MLPPP but I was using the regular firmware.
Any ideas?
Thank you!

Been using all kinds of Tomato on TSI for years. Even VPNs and many features of Tomato. Not a problem. |

Been using Tomato with TSI for years as well without any issue either. As others have stated in the vast majority of cases, routers are ISP agnostic. Anyways what exactly is the problem? Maybe someone here could help. |

The only thing that worked was reverting to the stock firmware or using another router which wasn't running Tomato. Tomato worked A-OK for me when used for an access point and work A-OK as well for my father which is currently with Sympatico. However, he wants to switch to Teksavvy which is the reason why I want to be able to use Tomato with Teksavvy (for my own use I want to switch to PfSense or go back to Shorewall). Thank you and have a nice day! Nick |

I don't want to use MLPPP, I only mentionned MLPPP because I know that is (or was) a supported Tomato version with Teksavvy... Thank you and have a nice day! Nick |

But you use Tomato firmware, which most of us use for MLPPP, therefore that thread contains all your answers. |

Never had any problems with Tomato and TekSavvy here. (Tried using MLPPP for a while, reverted to stock Tomato, then TomatoUSB, then Shibby Tomato... all without problems.
I would suspect something left in the nvram from the stock firmware - did you reset nvram after updating? - or incorrect PPoE settings (assuming the ADSL modem is in Bridge mode). |
