Router/Modem Not Syncing

Yesterday our router/modem dropped internet connection. We called ATT and they reassured us the line was just fine. We replaced the router/modem with the same brand and we still do not have internet connection. For whatever reason the internet is not detected. We have a technician coming out Friday, but it is rather inconvenient to say the least. Any suggestions? Our DSL light blinks green intermittently but no internet light.
