Re: [Other] ARRIS Touchstone TM722g

said by EdT:

I am not too familiar with cable modems, but is there a way such as an IP address and default gateway to access the modem's menu for the ARRIS Touchstone TM722g to change username/password and other configurations ? The user's manual is pretty vague and only tells users to select auto detect for IP and DNS or is this is basically a dumb cable modem with no router configurations ?

I heard/read that
quote:
Most cable modems have built-in diagnostics for getting information on the quality of the cable signal coming to the modem. The procedures for accessing these diagnostics vary depending on the brand and model of cable modem you have.

which to me sounds like there is a way to access to cable modem.

I can not and will not say, it is possible to change the setting however.

I have to ask some questions to assist you, for how to get into this modem UI.

#1 Do you have a RJ-45 WAN port router connected to the RJ-45 LAN port of this ARRIS Touchstone TM722g?

#2 If so, then it would help to know..

a) The brand and model of that RJ-45 WAN port router.

For example Linksys WRT54G.

b) If you have third party firmware is on that RJ-45 router and if so which one?

For example of a few that I heard/read about: DD-WRT, Tomato, Open WRT.

c) While your RJ-45 WAN port router most likely has a built in switch: Do you have a hub/switch that is not part of a router?

d) What is the current LAN IP of the RJ-45 WAN port router?

#3 Do you know how to setup a Static IP on your computer?

#4 Do have a computer that has a wired NIC?

Note: If your computer has at least two NICs and one of them is wired NIC

OR

you have more than one computer and one of those computer(s) has a wired NIC:

Then say yes.

No router connected, just straight through to the NIC

#3 Do you know how to setup a Static IP on your computer?

I can found out with ipconfig, but the IP setting was set to auto-detect.

Yes the integrated NIC is wired straight to the modem with a good old fashioned patch cord.

I tried using 192.168.100.1 and got a blank screen/server time out error.

Is this modem just a dumb modem without a router, their documentation is pretty shabby. How can I change the the Username/Password for the account access if it is not in the the modem menu set-up ?
