| [DSL] Upgrading to unlimited Currently we have 16Mbps service with 300 gig. We would like to upgrade to unlimited and have some questions:
1. Are there extra costs associated with upgrading to unlimited? 2. If we choose to upgrade to unlimited, will we loose the 16Mbps service, and be forced to take the 15 Mbps service? |

elitefx join:2011-02-14 London, ON kudos:1 | There's no real world speed difference between 16Mbps and 15 Mbps. Even between 18Mbps and 25Mbps you barely notice a change. Downloads are limited to the upload speed of the server the file you want is located on. |

 | reply to kragop Price it out fully though.
The 25/7mbps connection it's cheaper to do the 300gb cap and pay any overages as even if you max out on the overage charge you'd have paid that anyway for the unlimited. |

 | reply to elitefx Most servers have more than 18 mbit available to you. Going from 18 to 25mbit will almost certainly provide a noticeable speed difference. Remember that most servers are on 100mbit to 1000mbit lines and aren't even using half the load. You'd have no problem downloading from file lockers, steam, etc at rates above this. |

 | reply to elitefx Yea all the servers on the internet are clearly 15-25 mbit. There is no such thing as 100mbit or gigabit out there. O wait, pretty much every dedicated server is 100mbit or faster. Of course there is a massive difference between 18mbit and 25mbit lol, what are you even talking about? |

 | i would notice the 800 KPBS difference when i am Downloading 3 meg a sec vs 2.2 is noticeable imo -- Every time Someone leaves Sympatico an Angel gets its wings.

There is no cost to change your bandwidth package, however because the 16Mbps packages not longer exist you would be put on the 15Mbps/1Mbps unlimited for $59.99
Thank you, Tsi Taunia |
