The Cash Grab Is On

And just when you Teksavvy people thought you wanted Rogers increased speeds (for a free upgrade), what does Rogers do? Hell, Rogers is sticking it to their own customers. Just imagine what they're going to want from the TPIAs. You guys will have to sell your soul for all this nonsense.

IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT AN INCREASE TO ROGERS SERVICE RATES

Please note that the rates for certain cable television, home phone and internet access services and bundles are increasing on or after January 24, 2013. Customers affected by these rate increases have been notified of the specific details of what is increasing by way of bill message or letter.

Affected customers who wish to respond to the rate increase notice may call us at 1 888 ROGERS 1 (764-3771).

Residents of New Brunswick who do not wish to accept any applicable rate increase may choose to cancel the service(s) affected by the rate increase(s). Any applicable early cancellation fee, device savings recovery fee or service deactivation fee will apply.

Residents of Newfoundland and Labrador and Québec who do not wish to accept any applicable rate increase may choose to cancel the service(s) affected by the rate increase(s) without any early cancellation fee by sending us a notice to that effect no later than 30 days after the rate increase(s) take effect, as indicated in the rate increase notice.

Residents of Ontario who do not wish to accept any applicable rate increase may choose to cancel the service(s) affected by the rate increase(s) without any early cancellation fee, device savings recovery fee or service deactivation fee, as applicable, by sending us a notice to that effect no later than 30 days after receiving the rate increase notice.

Gotta love Rogers. Didn't they JUST do an increase June that just passed. Man...

I know for a fact the removed the $50 maximum cap to $100 (well not removed but increased)

I'm pretty sure their rates recently went up. No reason for it either. None what so ever. As much as i disagree with TSI's stance on the IP thing i still plan to setup a cable account with them. Just hope to keep costs to a minimum.

Luckily we don't pay for the Rogers connection in this house. Wife's company does otherwise they'd be out the door.

Will Rogers internet customers be charged additionally for the recent speed bumps they experienced? I thought that was a "free" upgrade

Don't know the details yet. Just giving you guys a heads up.

I've got Rogers Express 25/2 and I haven't seen a notice yet. Rogers don't usually hike the rates till April? This could be an early price adjustment.

I will post when I find out more unless somebody else comes up with the info first.

Amazing how they're allowed to do this... yet as a monopoly, they have no fear of failure. CAPS should be going down soon... why not, everyone is switching to netflix and they don't like that.

Well, let's hope the Blue Jays aren't bought and paid for by the Teksavvy faithful paying double what they used to. As my Grandpappy would say "Shit rolls downhill".

Teksavvy will continue to be either the best deal in town OR ................

Wait, so customers in New Brunswick have to pay the higher fees or pay an ECF? How is this legal?

Either way Rogers is still the worst option.

We just had a 10% general increase in October -- it's only been 3 months and another one? guess they have to pay out the CEO's bonus.

No, I said this when they bought MLSE, its the "We paid too much for MLSE recovery fee".

They bought the company (really the leafs) for the content.. OOOOPS.. Hockey Strike... budgeted revenue is not there.... rate increase. The Bean counters budget $x revenue from MLSE, and that's not happening.

Ok raise rates.. we'll make even MORE money in perpetuity.

No, I didn't. Honest... I ran out of gas. I... I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake.......

This is just one more reason why vertical integration ought to be banned, or failing that internet service be regulated as an *essential* service - so cross-subsidies between different 'verticals' won't find their way into rates.

I must admit Rogers must have done something with their digital television. Channels that always pixelated don't pixelate anymore and no more sound drop outs all the time. This all happened about one month ago coinciding with the increase in internet upload speed. I don't mind paying more if the channels work since they never worked in the past up until about one month ago. This is *with* using 3 professional broadband boosters in a 14,000 square foot house.

Yeah that is a scary one. They can raise rates but if you don't like it and want to cancel you can get still get slammed with ECF. How are consumers getting any protection here. On one hand rates can go up as much as like while they hold you hostage with the other hand holding exorbitantly high cancellation fees over your head.

As for our fees with TSI i think we're safe until the migration to aggregated POI. I expect some changes at that point.
