 | [AB] High speed west of Calgary I just uppgraded with Telus today after years of trying from 6 mb down to 15 mb down. I live in North Springbank Township Road 251A west of Calgary. They are sending me a new router. Should I have specified which router I wanted. Wireless is not important as i have 13 wired internet jacks in the house. Does Telus have different modems and different quality modems. Is 25mb available in my area. The Telus csr did not seem to be really knowledgeable. Any help would be appreciated. I would not mind paying to get the best router available. Thanks lots |

I know its been beaten to death but............. How does a business get a secure ISP supplied "modem" without the crappy built on router anyways? Short of deploying a hardware modem in a basic server. Even with bridging, a combination unit can always accidentally revert to "hey, free wifi here and personal/corporate files as a bonus".
Backdoors suck(tech support backdoor) and no ISP should be allowed to distribute combination units, based on basic privacy laws. Oh wait, everyones a terrorist,,, so people must buy their own modem for $150(VDSL2) to be sure of a secure private network(LAN) via their own router that is more stable than ISP combination unit firmwares. |
