SCALEX 11 Coming to L.A. In February

OK, boys and girls, it's that time again.

The Southern California Linux Exposition will be held this year at the LAX Hilton on West Century Blvd near LAX.

This is an amazing event, and if you happen to be in or near Southern California February 22nd~24th, stop on in and see the current State-of-the-Art in Linux.

It's only $10 to see the Expo, and a full ticket with access to all of the classes and talks is $60.

Registration and more information located here:

I'm pretty sure that can be arranged.

Barring any unforeseen problems with the next launch, I should be back in plenty of time to attend.

I'll definitely get in touch with you.

Maybe we could try and have a DSLReports lunch?

OK, we can all meet at the cafe that's in the hotel.

I'll probably be there Saturday.

The food is pretty good, but just be careful they don't dump a pitcher of ice tea on you!

That was quite a rude awakening.

More as time and saturated hotel network permit.

The Dark Side of SCALE...

Obviously some plan on being on their feet all day.

And a first (for me) this year, HelmetCam Girl (please excuse the cellfone cam shot) #scale11x #helmetcam

Was good meeting up with No_Strings See Profile.
Missed drjim See Profile though.

She's a doll. Met her in the media room. She jumped right on it when someone asked for a volunteer to wear the cam. One of those bright, full of life people that are fun to be around.

Yeah, I couldn't make it there today.

My best buddy from college is out here for a day (only!) to settle up some things on his mom's estate, and he wanted to get together and meet my (somewhat new) wife.

I'm planning on going Sunday morning/noonish to see what's new and improved.

Great show. I bet we beat our record attendance ... again.

Some new faces this year - Disney, Facebook, ChinaCache as well as many familiar ones - IBM, HP, Debian. The Linux Astronomy booth was never empty.

Lots more young folks as more programs and tracks have been added for them.

(Unrelated to above) Rackspace and HP were handing out free beer in the spirit of Free Software.

Many Raspberry Pi and similar devices were on display doing all manner of interesting crunching.

Jono Bacon was signing books at the O Reilly booth.

The Linux Beginner session was again packed.

All of the folks taking pix are posting them on Flickr with the tag "scale11x" or on Twitter #scale11x or wherever else people post such things.

See you next year.
