Re: [Race to 90] The DSLR Ironman Challenger - Reloaded

I would like to update my profile to state I'll be on a server that meets the following two criteria:

1) The Thing does not have a toon on it already.
2) It remains secret from The Thing and his Tom-foolery.

That would require for TheThing to reactivate his wow account and I don't think that is going to happen.

haha +1

I wouldn't come back to WoW, and I wouldn't grief anyways, jk

it was mainly a question whether people competing in the ironman challenge could do it to one another... like Jobbie is level 11, and he aggros mobs in an attempt to wipe out Carpie level 9 or something

I think it would too much effort for the result expected, you could always roll a new toon and be back to that level really fast.

But you never now man, griefers gonna grief.

Ok scratch that. No I didn't die already. But as I was running around Gilneas it struck me why having a pet is so important. At some point you are going to level out of your gear and you might as well be walking around naked. One hit from a high level mob and that's going to hurt. But the pets level their armor level automatically and are designed to absorb those types of hits. It's really almost an unfair advantage in this challenge. So I am tabling Consecration and taking out his brother, Desecratiön.

So I ended up getting myself the last two xpacs and re-upping the WoW sub as my xmas gift to myself (but only on 1 of my accounts.)

And tbh it's already getting a little stale. My favorite aspect of the game was raiding and all the friends I had, but almost all of them have moved on. My old guild is dead.... I've already got my mage to 84 with my limited play time, so I'll keep pushing on him and maybe the raid finder will be a godsend. We'll see.

So, anyway this sounds like something interesting to try. I'll roll a toon here in a few hours when I get home from work. Definitely a hunter. I would imagine the first 15 or so levels will go by quick and painless. After that though....gunna be grindorific.

It's kind of interesting that's mostly hunters making it when if you play a prot paladin it's almost impossible to kill one. The new way they set the talent points doesn't really add that much to the prot side unless you run dungeons and tanks which, obviously, you can't.

I am going with warlock beside of the obvious advantage because I have never leveled one so my knowledge of the class is pretty low.

what is an example of what kind of add-ons are not allowed?

Leveling addons are an example in the rules, but also we agreed that all addons are allowed since there is no way to validate its usage, it all comes on how "hardcore" you want it to be.

I am using auctioneer and spartanui for my bars. Regarding auctioneer I got a Malachite (yes one) and I put in on the AH for 50 silver and when it sold I felt the riches man in the world at level 9.

ah, lol, it just dawned on me that it doesn't matter if it's prot because you can't claim a talent tree. Alright, here goes:

I left all my addons enabled because none of them actually do anything to my game play anyhow. Auctioneer, altoholic, recount, etc... make no difference. AND I enabled auto-loot in the settings (I honestly do not know why that starts off disabled, is there anyone who actually wants to double click each item that is looted?).

I'm really excited to see how you do on the Paladin Kingdome. My initial reaction was that Priests and Pallys would be a good choice for survivability. I swayed on that notion though because I worry how big of a factor lack of decent armor will become for ANY toon that is going to take a hit from higher level mobs. With pets, they scale with the mobs so it won't make any difference.

At some point all quest rewards become green items right? I'm thinking at a higher level you won't be rewarded white and grey items you can upgrade to. I'm also thinking that at some levels it is going to be extremely difficult to find level appropriate gear that meets the rules. We'll see.

Level 4 on the Priest and level 5 on the Warlock for me.

I was thinking on a paladin and how easy was to just bubbleheart when you get in trouble, but its no longer possible you need a glyph for that.

No in-game achievement, just your name on the official list that you register on - I'll try to find it again, when not at work, I recall it was blocked.

It's actually quite fun because you don't have to think about fishing, cooking, mining this or crafting that. Just level and nothing else. When I hit 10 I will park him for a bit to load up on rest bonus, run him to 20, rest, etc. I haven't leveled a toon without BoA's since they became available so all we get is rest bonus.
