said by NetFixer:Unfortunately, I have also in the past run into problems where BellSouth/AT&T had made firmware changes to modems that they provided and/or made changes in their infrastructure that made bridge mode in some modems incompatible with some routers
I have also had them just change my network password for no reason.
Last instance just a couple of weeks ago....
DSL just suddenly stopped working.... solid sync but no service. Router (Netgear) seemed unchanged in any way. My access to it was still just fine.
I was lucky and got a savy rep... who I up front told what happened what I have tried, the modem is bridged and I'm not undoing that and direct connecting that is not the problem.
They got it, and got things done quick with a few security questions and no script running.
Can't say for sure they randomly changed my net PW (as I couldn't find my written down copy) but just resetting that to what they told me it was, fixed everything.
Again seems odd the router could get zapped to only effect that and not my router login PW, or any other parameter settings, but just my ATT net PW.
